An Open Appeal I am writing to request your support for the Wallis Family Foundation’s “Bikes and Bugs”, a fundraising event benefiting drug research for children with epilepsy. This event will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at the Ragin Cajun in Sugar Land. The event will include the raffle of a Custom Harley Davidson Motorcycle, a wonderful silent auction and live entertainment. In the United States, epilepsy is the most common neurological condition in children and the third most common in adults after Alzheimer's and stroke. Despite modern therapy, roughly one million people continue to experience seizures or significant side effects from treatment. Approximately 200,000 new cases of seizures and epilepsy occur each year. The Wallis Family Foundation’s mission is "to ensure that people with epilepsy are able to participate in all of life's events by increasing public awareness and energizing science to find a cure." “Bikes and Bugs” is part of the Wallis Family Foundation campaign to advance our mission and is held in conjunction with the annual “An Evening for Epilepsy” Benefit to be held in October. The goal of this year’s event is to raise $40,000. Companies such as yours help make this event possible. This year’s fundraiser will again include the donation of the facility and catering, along with other in-kind donations to make this a very successful event with minimal expense. Additionally, we expect over 100 professionals from the Houston area to attend this evening function which will feature our first-class silent auction and raffle. All sponsors and in-kind donors will be recognized in our program and event signage. Thank you for your consideration of this request. Your support will help us contribute to the research of new drugs that will aid in treatment, prevention and improve the overall quality of life for children with epilepsy. To ensure a listing in our event promotional materials, please respond to us by April1, 2010. If you would like more information regarding epilepsy, please visit www.epilepsyfoundation.org or www.thewallisfamilyfoundation.org. Kindest Regards,
Mark Wallis |
